Cronulla Pools and Designer Beadcrete
Our friends at Cronulla Pools recently sat down with Brett Craig from Designerite to discuss the benefits of Designer Beadcrete. Here’s what Cronulla Pools crew had to say about our product!
Pool finishes have been revolutionised over the past 10 years. Where there was once only a simple rendered, concrete or tile finish available, there is now a huge amount of choice when designing your dream pool. And whilst the choice can be overwhelming, it means you really can design the pool of your dreams.
We’re big lovers of Beadcrete. Made up of clear beads and coloured quartz, or glass, that combine to create a reflective mirror underneath the water - giving you that sparkling oasis that you’ve always dreamed of.
We recently caught up with Brett Craig of Designer Beadcrete. The team at Designer Beadcrete boasts 40 years’ experience in working with pools, and they work with only market leading technology and are proud of their meticulous processes.
Brett shared with us the benefits of this product “it’s texture, smoothness and it’s reflective nature is quite unique…and much softer under foot. It will work with any pool shape. There aren’t any restrictions to what it can do”. The impact of Beadcrete on pool water clarity is pretty impressive also – your pool is guaranteed to look stunning both day and night.
One of the reasons we have fallen in love with Beadcrete is because of the variety of colours available, and the customisable nature of the product. We often have customers wanting very specific colour choices for their pool – all possible with Beadcrete. As Brett explained “The standard colours are all made the same, but then we can tweak it, so if you want some more blue, or a darker colour, we can create it. Then if another customer says ‘I love that colour, I want exactly the same’, we can recreate it easily”.
We have also found that including Beadcrete in your pool build is a simple and quick part of the build process, whereas “tiling a pool requires the pool builder to allow time for rendering, drying, laying tiles, grout, etc. With Beadcrete, it’s installed in a day and starts filling (with water) the next” said Brett.
Beadcrete is often mistaken for Pebblecrete, a similar product that is a mix of pebbles and cement. Brett has worked with both finishes in the past and outlined the differences between these products for us “Whilst modern Pebblecrete is smaller and refined in comparison to the older style, you can still have a lot of course edges. With the glass (in Beadcrete) the touch and feel is improved and makes it hard for algae to grow because it’s so smooth”. A low maintenance pool finish? We’re in!
Brett also stressed the importance of ongoing upkeep of your pool to maintain water quality and maximise comfort for each swimmer. He says “the worst thing people can do is neglect the chemical balance. Realistically, each week you should test & balance your water poolside to look after it - especially in summer. Every month, go up to the local pool shop and they’ll test it for you. It’s like washing your car every month and servicing it every six months. Basic maintenance goes a long way”.
And that’s about it. I’m sure you can see why we love Beadcrete!
